ok so this is basically a round up of my wips right now, with a little bit of words on each, maybe a plot sketch if I’ve gotten that far. this partially just to make my brain more organized by putting it all down somewhere, and partially because I want to talk about writing so badly….. if you see something here you’d like to talk about I am 110% guaranteed to also want to talk!! I am on a haggly-only writing ban right now so seriously the invitation to think about other things would be nice

Anyway, here we go, in no particular order (I’ll be keeping both hh and junfest off of this list):

title or concept: jaeger lesbians!

pairing and fandom: seokhao - svt

tags: friends to enemies to lovers, alternate universe - pacific rim, rule 63

thoughts: ok so this was originally inspired by the bbb square “exploiting intimate knowledge to keep the product limping along and functioning” and the margaret atwood poem “we are hard”. I think enemies to lovers is good but friends to enemies to lovers is even better. I think I'll finish this some time soonish (as in within the next year) so i want to keep the emotional beats somewhat a surprise, but I’d like to explore the theme of hurting someone you love in the particular vein of that bbb square + fight scenes + what does it mean to be drift compatible/drift with someone….. anyway. moving on.

tags: magical realism, true name theory, developing relationship

thoughts: this is the first bbb fic i’m going for! specific squares: can't remember the last time you heard your name pronounced correctly, using the wrong language with your own family, clashing love langugages, filial piety, and resenting others for their emotional vulnerability. plot loosely focused around jun teaching seokmin how to pronounce minghao's name + emotional vulnerability in a place that isn’t home

tags: friends with benefits, rule 63, jealousy

thoughts: ok so bbb2 is more in the vein of the fest I think. again with the focus on minghao, but this time in the vein of admiration directed at Jun + jealousy + post performance horniness tag. The square set I’d be going for is: am I good at being an idol or good at being a woman?, exploiting oblivious foreigner stereotypes to do what you want, burgeoning alcoholism as a comedic fallback, do I want to be her or sleep with her, keeping ruthless ambition as hidden as possible, only taking care of yourself so that you can take care of others more effectively, post performance horiness, never getting to use your lower range when singing or speaking, exploiting intimate knowledge to keep the product alive and functioning, bedsharing as a coping mechanism.

 

The underlined tags are the ones I’d really like to hit, and tbh I might drop the rest as I write, depending how it goes. I think I’ve resigned myself to not getting a blackout, but I’d love at least one bingo in the fest. I’d rather drop the squares than try to jam them into a fic they wouldn’t vibe with.

tags: post disbandment fic, one-sided enemies to lovers, renuinions

thoughts: ok so this is the renjun fic! I am seriously not up to date on the meta right now, and I’ve accepted I never will be, but I think that renjun’s image/idolsona concept is both the same and entirely different from jaemin’s and I want to write a reunion fic to talk about it! renjun is surprisingly heart-on-his-sleeve sometimes, and I think: jaemin sees that -> tries to help him -> fuck buddies -> disbandment -> meet a few years later and resolve the emotional tension, would be a good arc. this and bbb2 are entirely outside of my wheelhouse, and I’m pretty nervous to try and write them tbh, but I signed up for bbb with the intention of pushing myself, so I guess I’ll see how that goes?

 

the squareset for this one would be: acting out and testing your boundaries bc you’re both incredibly powerful and incredibly trapped, early disbandment by group choice, knowing the management is pitting you against each other and walking right into that trap, post-disbandment identity crisis, no idea what you’d rather be doing but it’s not this anymore, always out of the loop, will never ever escape this period of your life, glad to have contractually obligated company, any attempts to upskill thwarted.

 

same thing with the underlined squares etc etc. this is the one I don’t have a plot for most, so that’ll need some work.

tags: nirvana in fire au, friends to strangers to lovers, political drama, rule 63

thoughts: this is something I think would take another rewatch of nirvana in fire to write. I really love the concept, but it’s been a year or so since I’ve seen nif and it would take a little bit to entirely work out the plot. the motivation behind this one was definitely that title meme, thanks appia. the dynamix are just very tasty….

 

I really love the separated by 12 years plot thing, and also seokmin working to take her father down. also mingyu as mu nihuang? there’s more thoughts here, but they’re mostly just specifics about casting + having tenderhearting moment over seokhao

 

title or concept: you will never be a god

pairing and fandom: junseokhao - svt

projected wc: 21k

tags: alternate universe - modern with magic, gods, sacrifice

thoughts: this is actually something I finished back when the last wip olympics were going on, and I just haven’t finished edits. I know there’s a lot of exposition I’d like to cut and overall I’m just not super pleased with the draft right now. general concept revolves around death + sacrifice. it’s not an incredibly happy story, but it’s not a sad one either? I honestly don’t know. dia has read it in all of it’s unedited glory (thank you to her, seriously) and has deemed the characterization ok, so I’m relying on that.

 

I think you can tell where the story is going in the first 5k and the rest is just me saying words…. need some way to cut that down. I’m also not sure if it should be chaptered or not, but I’m leaning towards yes. seeding first chapter out in 2020!!

 

title or concept: the emperor’s sin

tags: historical fantasy, enemies to lovers, arranged marriage

thoughts: ok so I’m not in love with the title, first of all. this is the same as “you will never be a god” it came from a title meme and I think there’s this expectation that the title has to be really go to submit it to these things? it definitely outside of my own titling style, which doesn’t make it a bad one, just something I get the urge to change.

 

the concept itself leans pretty tropey, but I’d like to avoid the dubcon undertones that you get in this sort of plot. it’s on the backburner right now, but I’d like to get it done in time for gemini season <3

 

title or concept: omens fic

pairing and fandom: seoksoon - svt

thoughts: this is giftfic for beth! it’s been stalled out as I work through fests, but I wanted to write something for her after seeing her write 10k in a day, which was the most impressive. she didn’t ask for this, but I’ve wanted to attempt seoksoon (which I’ve seen everywhere) for a while, and this was an excuse, and also an opportunity. the concept is retired hero soonyoung goes to college! anyway meet-cute is real and can happen to you!

 

title or concept: dove on fire

pairing and fandom: norenmin - nct

projected wc: total at maybe 30k? chapter two at like 16kish

tags: scifi au, blatant references to pacrim, friends to lovers

thoughts: istg this is something I’ve been putting off for forever now. I have 6.3k on the next chapter, but it’s just slow going. the concept is norenmin eventually getting together, but honestly I am not in love with chapter one, and while I don’t think it’s bad enough to delete, it doesn’t really inspire me to invest the 10-16k it would take to finish it either. I’ll try to find my motivation, but honestly I’m not holding out any great hope for starting this until at least a couple of the above wips are completed.

 

that’s it for actual wips and things I’m planning on writing! I’ll make a concepts post later, because there are some things I think could use some actual feedback and/or fleshing out before I considered writing them!!
