After trying to get a couple of my friends into this group, I've realized it would be useful to have a guide to refer back to, so that's what this is. This is primarily written towards someone who is already semi-familiar with kpop and possible tbz.

This is pretty casual (at least in terms of tone), and designed to be more of a jumping off point than a comprehensive guide. Choose your own adventure, except with boyz content!

This guide is designed to work/look best with the style on my dreamwidth page, but it shouldn't break if you're viewing it on your own page (however I have not tested this extensively).

If you have anything to add or thoughts to share, drop me a comment (even just to let me know you read it), I love to chat!

I am not Korean and do not speak Korean, so I might make some errors, though I have tried my best. Corrections on this or anything else in this primer are welcome and appreciated!

Thank you to kpopliar, blindmouse, wetherein, and poppyseedfic on twitter who sent moments and ideas when I asked! Thank you to rye, jacks, and kita for listening to me yell about writing this for a few weeks <3

Thank you to iceinmarch on dw for the additional notes!

Table of Contents

This guide is broken up into a couple of sections: the group as a whole (including things such as variety shows), music, MVs, individual members, and units. This gets a little bulky, so I've tried to hyperlink around this post, with "‡" indicating a link to another location within this post. All other links are external.

The Group

(‡Top ▲)

If I could give you just one reason to get into The Boyz, I'd say do it for their magnetic performances. If I could give you another, it'd be because I think they're hilarious and surprisingly thoughtful off stage as well!

A labeled picture of The Boyz.

The Boyz (styled THE BOYZ) are an eleven* member group that debuted on December 6th, 2017. They're known for their dynamic choreography, teamwork, and ability to execute any concept thrown at them. Their comebacks have matured over the years, going from a fresh, boyish concept (their debut song literally being titled Boy) to harder hitting, sexier ones, such as The Stealer. Also have I mentioned I love them.

*(Previously they had twelve members, but the twelfth, Hwall, had to leave the group in 2019 due to an ankle injury.)

A labeled picture of The Boyz including Hwall.

(Also, small digression: the name. Oh my god, the name. Of the many namez they've had, at least it isn't the the Cre.kerz?)

Road to Kingdom (2020), and Kingdom: Legendary War (2021)

If you haven't already seen clips from the shows, it was their appearances on Mnet reality shows Road to Kingdom and Kingdom: Legendary War that boosted their popularity to where it is now. Personally, I'm a big fan of their cover of Taemin's "Danger" if you want to get a taste of why they swept Road to Kingdom and scored second on Kingdom.

If you're into kpop reality shows, I think Road to Kingdom or Kingdom are a pretty good place to begin!

Kingdom featured such groups as Stray Kids, BtoB, Ateez, SF9, and IKon; Road to Kingdom had Pentagon, ONF, Golden Child, Verivery, Oneus, and TO1. The shows are structured around putting together stages and collaborations, and the results are pretty spectacular. Both shows are pretty high drama and cheese, overall fun, especially if you lean into it!

The Boyz first performance in Kingdom: Legendary War. Ten members lift Juyeon into the air.
A shot from the opening performance of "The Stealer (Epic Ver.)". Ten members lift Juyeon into the air.

Their performances are really enjoyable to watch, and if nothing else, the choreography they're doing puts into perspective how much they trust each other on stage. Some of those stunts wouldn't be possible without it.

Here is a link to all of their RtK and Kingdom stages in a playlist. If you're pressed for time though, I'd recommend (in addition to the "Danger" cover), two stages:

REVEAL (Catching Fire): a reimagining of their song "Reveal", into a full fledged fight for a crown, featuring hands being set on fire, a living painting, and a Chajeon Nori inspired crowning stunt.

On the stunts in the performance:
Kevin: The flash paper itself is super flammable and it burns super fast, so even though the heat is really high, it just didn’t sustain itself long enough for Hyunjae to get burned. It’s just an instant flash.

Juyeon: Honestly ... Hyunjae’s hands smelled delicious.

Hyunjae: Yeah, I literally smelled like barbecue.

Sunwoo: Another move we didn’t think we’d be able to do was the Chajeon Nori stunt, which the choreographer based on a traditional Korean game. The first time we went up on the rope, it was actually a lot higher than we thought and it was a lot shakier since it was being supported by people. There were actually a few times Hyunjae almost fell off, and we kept burning our hands on the rope.

Hyunjae: That also smelled like barbecue.

도원경 (Quasi una fantasia) (a cover of VIXX's "Shangri-la"): A dreamlike contemporary cover, where The Boyz practically float across the stage to a remix of Shangri-la with Moonlight Sonata. It's ridiculously gorgeous as a performance.

(Also worth noting is their cover of Sunmi's "Heroine" with Oneus, refocused to depict an idol's journey to the stage. Did I nearly cry watching this for the first time? You can't prove anything!)

One of my favorite kpop things to watch are practice videos, so it would be remiss to finish this section without mentioning the ones for RtK/K:LW. I couldn't find a playlist but they're all on youtube. Here is the one for Reveal (Catching Fire), and here is the one for The Stealer (Epic ver.) (their opener for Kingdom).

Also, TVXQ's Changmin hosted Kingdom: Legendary War, which led to many a joke because TBZ main dancer Q's name is also Changmin...

Variety/Reality Show Appearances

Variety Shows
In addition to their RtK and Kingdom performances, The Boyz have featured on the standard spread of variety shows, like Weekly Idol not once, not twice, but three times, as well as a half episode where NCT's Haechan and Johnny were hosting.

They've also appeared in Idol Human Theatre, Idol House, and After School Club, if you like the format of any of those.

Some of their English appearances include them imitating emojis for Cosmopolitan, playing "Who's Who?" with Buzzfeed, an interview with Eric Nam (only Kevin, Jacob, and Eric), and this charming interview with Metro, in which they struggle with the tiny pot the interview questions were put into. Juyeon can't help having big hands!

They did a Tiktok Dance Challenge with Cosmo that someone has kindly reuploaded, which made me laugh! Ft. Haknyeon being the Best and Chanhee dying in real time. Also includes names with subtitles!

For people trying to learn their names, this Thrill Ride Era Soompi Interview has their names with the subtitles.

Juyeon hosts a little variety show called Walking with Juyeon which is very cute and loosely scripted, where he sits down with one member per episode and has a little chat.

Some of the variety show appearances I'd recommend are
  • 210807 M Spotlight: In The School: It's framed like a classroom thing, but mostly that's just set dressing for them to answer fun questions about each other while Eric hosts. (Sunwoo guest stars as the least enthusiastic class assistant ever!)

  • There's also the variety show they self-hosted in 2018, called "Come On! The Boyz", which is a particular delight. Here is a playlist of all the episodes in order, my favorite being this one, where they do the shouting in silence game, wear animal onesies, and Jacob and Changmin have a face off battle over Twice's "Likey":

  • And we cannot forget their time on mafia dance, in which they were so bad at guessing the mafia that the staff had to bend the rules so they wouldn't end the game a round early!!

  • This is one of the videos that got me into them in the first place, the time they did Drop the Dance in 2019:

(For a few other variety appearances and interviews see the ‡Other Resources section, because this is getting quite long already.)

Reality Shows

The difference between reality and variety is sometimes blurry to me, but I've tried my best to separate these two sections.

(Their predebut show was Flower Snack, where they had to run a cafe for a while. I haven't personally watched this one.)

What I can recommend though, is The 100*, the show they did immediately after their debut. The Boyz go to a winter house retreat to put together their first concert! They also make food, have dance practices, clean the house, and watch a scary movie. It's very wholesome, and the episodes are only 10 minutes each, making it a really quick watch.

*This links to vlive jsyk, in case something happens to vlive after this primer is published. Someone has uploaded The 100 to Youtube (playlist here) as well, but I'm worried that might be taken down by vlive later.

There's also this extra (1) (2) from the 100, ft. footage of The Boyz on horses.

Later on in 2019, The Boyz visited New York, and had a delightful reality show there, sponsored by 1theK. There's several moments in this you might have seen on twitter, including many boyz sharing the same soda, and Changmin buying a pigeon plushie. They go on cute little couple trips and recklessly overspend the budget the program has given them. (The jock boyz vs. artsy boyz divide is made very apparent.)

Here is a link to a playlist of the series.

Episode One:

They also had a couple of more recent (as of 2021) shows, including one with Lifetime. The whole thing isn't available online, but the Lifetime youtube channel has been releasing clips slowly, including another episode of them shouting in silence:

Here is a link to a list of other reality shows they've done. Come on! The Boyz had a season that was more reality-show called Summer RPG, and Otoseyo (link to some subbed episodes here), afaik was more of a variety-talk show vibe.

For some of the other shows, theboyzfolder on twitter hosts this spreadsheet with links to paid contents (edit 4/16/22: this spreadsheet is no longer active, and the videos are no longer accessible. if you know of a different method to see universe content, please let me know!).

Generation Z and Be Your Own King

The Boyz have done a lot of different projects exploring self identity, touching on the way being an idol makes expressing that difficult. The two most notable projects in this vein are Generation Z and Be Your Own King.

I have no idea how their creative team came up with these, but they're both like a fever dream meets an art film meets an mv teaser except there's no mv. In other words, confusing but incredibly fun to watch. They're also really pretty fever dream art films!!

Generation Z's concept was an "identity film", which meant that you got a lot of earnest trendy boyz staring into the camera during interviews, and also whatever this is:

(Haknyeon (pictured) and Sunwoo (speaking) later clowned Juyeon here for the way the above video opens. Yellow~)

I'm not sure how to describe BYOK, except to say it was a sequel that responded to the themes of Generation Z and went even more art house:

In order of appearance: Hyunjae, Juyeon, Changmin (Q), Hakneyon, Kevin, Sunwoo, Sangyeon, Chanhee (New), Younghoon, Jacob, Eric.

Both of them are lots fun to watch, and I'll link the interviews the members did for each in the ‡Member Guide section of this primer. I think they're really thoughtful and worth a read/watch. Each person posed questions to themselves and then answered them, and a lot of them said it was a good time for self reflection.

Boyz Factz

This section is for things I couldn't figure out how to put in other places.

They have an awful time trying not to drop cakes, please someone save them.
Kevin Moon dropping a cake.

They're brand ambassadors for LAPOTHICELL a cosmetics brand, which explains the random product placement they sometimes engage in.

Once they went viral for running through an airport because they were about to miss their flight.

Very good at covers! In particular, please watch them cover TWICE, such as "Cheer Up" and "What is Love?". They've also covered SNSD's "The Boys" many times.

Music Videos and Music

As of writing this primer, The Boyz most recent comeback was Maverick, a Battle Royale inspired MV that happened to come out just after Squid Game (2021)'s popularity came to a peak.

As mentioned previously, their music videos have gone over time from fun and refreshing to more mature (though still sometimes refreshing). I've included a timeline below!

Title Tracks and MVs

Here is an annotated summary of tbz title tracks! I haven't included singles, just to keep this list reasonable. * marks favorite releases.

  • BOY: This was their debut track! Fun and fresh. Boyz run around and have little surprise meetings around the city.

  • *Giddy Up: CANNOT believe that this song does not have a cowboy themed MV but here we are! This is a little more spunky than Boy, and has the most fun choreo. They are in a ping pong machine! They are dancing their hearts out!

  • Right Here: Reminds me of Monsta X's "Hero" for reasons I cannot place! Still in their very spunky era. I think the song is a lot of fun.

  • No Air: The beginning of a more elegant tilt to their comebacks! Why are they wet? I'm not asking questions.

  • *Bloom Bloom: Aliens? Baseball? Fresh Boyz? A three for one deal! The Boyz start to hit their stride!

  • D.D.D: Stands for dance dance dance! Like alice in wonderland meets a teen coming of age movie. There's a mysterious rabbit that's never explained.

  • *Tattoo: Their first Japanese release! One of my favorite songs from them, and the first hint of a harder hitting kind of concept. Everything is vaguely scifi! Also a gorgeous color scheme for the music video.

  • Reveal: Following up on Tattoo, they release Reveal, which is apparently werewolf themed??? (The music video does not really reflect this, but you DO get many aesthetic shots of boyz in silk draped rooms with feathers and paint.)

  • Checkmate: Not a traditional comeback, but this was released as part of Road to Kingdom! Chess themed metaphors and Boyz With Swords~

  • *The Stealer: Heist Boyz! It was their first comeback after RtK so they had a lot to prove. Various members have talked about the pressure they felt to do well during this comeback. It turned out very well. You go heart stealing boyz!

  • Christmassy!: Is this a comeback? Not really but it's here anyway. Christmas themed song except it's also vaguely prom themed?? Enough cheese to be served with chips.

  • Breaking Dawn: Sci-fi Boyz in leather pants! This was their second Japanese release. Personally I like the song but I would also like to mention it's on the playlist of noise music I play while studying that includes NCT.

  • *Kingdom Come: The final stage they had for Kingdom (on this list for similar reasons to Checkmate)

  • *Drink It: Vampirez!!! What more could you need?

  • Thrill Ride: A return to the fresh concept! They're at a theme park! They're playing basketball! Some of my favorite choreo, it just looks fun. They've mentioned this was a comeback they tried to enjoy without feeling pressured!

  • Maverick: This was a really fast turn around after thrill ride, not a huge amount of down time between the two. Vaguely Battle Royale (2000) inspired, they're playing death games? I enjoy the MV a lot.

Discography and B-sides

While The Boyz don't have my favorite kpop discography (the honor going to IU or txt), I really like a lot of their b-sides! This section comes with a playlist. This doesn't cover every album and doesn't include title tracks. I have elected not to include commentary with these songs because I think commentary on music in this situation is mostly pointless if you haven't heard the song in question.

This is in order on the playlist (categories are very loose):

  • Ballads
    • Goodbye
    • Closer
    • Merry Bad Ending

  • Upbeat and Fresh

    Sangyeon

    Three icons of Sangyeon.
    • Lee Sangyeon ♏☀️ ♌🌙
    • Born November 4, 1996
    • Leader, Main Vocalist
    • Representative Number: 82* (represents his desire for tbz to quickly get to the top)
*82 sounds like slang in Korean for "Hurry Up" (8=pal 2=ee, "pal-ee pal-ee" is "quick quick")

Self-described "gentle" man who wants to be "like a baguette", the oldest member of tbz is Sangyeon!

In addition to being the oldest, Sangyeon also leads tbz. He's actually the youngest in his family, and has talked before about the difficulties of transitioning to being the oldest in the group. He's done a good job though!! As tbz have gained more experience, he's been able to settle into the role a little.

Early in "The 100" The Boyz explain that they don't actually have a leader, but instead have a "head". I've also heard it translated as "class president", with Jacob being the vice president. The reasoning as Sangyeon explains it:
"...as we have a lot of members, if we use the word "Leader" somehow it will only put all the responsibility to one person. That's why it will be better if all the members have their own responsibilities. So we make the system like we're in a school so each member has their own responsibility."

Sangyeon with blond hair wearing a white shirt.

He has very poor luck regarding games, but takes it with a good spirit! Eric introduces him like this:
Our Class President & the eldest, Sangyeon. First, he is funny! But he has bad luck and kinda clumsy. He's funny although sometimes he tells us old man jokes, but it's also cute. His body is really nice and he's really responsible." — 디🌻 (@ DforQ) May 30, 2020

He's an incredible singer, appearing on masked singer in 2018 (below). Recently he's been tasked with the high notes in songs such as Kingdom Come (3:59) and Maverick(2:44). His voice is warm and very stable!

More recently, he appeared on I Am a Trot Singer. Here's a fantastic video of him and Yoon Soohyun covering Kang Jin's "땡벌" (Bumble Bee).

Another great cover he's done is this one of John Park's "Childlike":

Sangyeon also composes and produces in his spare time. He has released several songs, such as Day Off (very relatable) and I Want to Go Back (which released on Children's Day). He's helped write lyrics for several tbz songs, and helped compose Spring Snow off their full length album Reveal.

His BYOK interview is worth a read, he talks about composing, music, and how he's doing with the expectations placed on him.

    Some Sangyeon fun facts!

    Jacob

    Three icons of Jacob.
    • Jacob Bae (Korean name: Bae Joonyoung) ♊☀️ ♓🌙
    • Born May 30, 1997
    • Lead Vocal
    • Representative Number: 30 (his birthday)

The self proclaimed sweet voice of The Boyz, Jacob! Also the Vice President. He's notable for having an exceptionally even temperament, to the point that he gets called an angel quite a bit. Part of his Generation Z interview talked about his attitude towards anger:

Jacob is 1/2 of the Canadian line (with Kevin), and 1/3 of the English speaking line (with Eric). He's left handed, loves basketball, and loves cereal a lot (though he has since mentioned that he doesn't eat it as much).

He's played the guitar for a long time, and can be found doing acoustic lives, such as this Troye Sivan "Youth" cover with Sunwoo, "The Stealer" (Acoustic Ver!), B.O.Y., or "Reveal" (Acoustic Ver!) (below):

(Sunwoo and Jacob also did "Sunday Morning" (among many others! this is such a goofy fun video, highly recommend). Joshua Hong are you listening??)

He has a really lovely voice, and sings falsetto quite a bit. As part of A to the BOYZ, a project series where The Boyz release solo content, he's filmed this dreamy cover of Bazzi's "I.F.L.Y.".

He talked a little about the behind the scenes of the cover here with Eric Nam. He had originally recorded a version of this cover in the studio to release with this video, but the staff asked him to play it live on set, so he did! Here is the more studio-produced version of the cover he did that he mentioned.

He's very hardworking according to the other members, and mentions his philosophy about negative feedback in his BYOK interview (trans. cobiedaily). It's really interesting, and the whole interview is worth a read through.
Jacob: I was unsure if my definition of freedom was to be free from everyone's opinions because if you think about it, I'm a person who started because of other's opinions. More than compliments, criticism is what spurs me to action.

But I worry if working harder because of negative feedback is healthy for me. I want to find things to improve about myself before other people find them. I want to become a person who will work harder because of positive feedback. I want to work not because of other's criticism but my own.

He's also quite silly!! Such as leaving an interview doing the worm (Joshua Hong are you listening).

    Three pictures of Jacob Bae.

    Here's how Eric introduces him:
Jacob is an angel. If angel doesn't have a wing, then that's Jacob. His effort on everything is the best. Dance, singing, producing, writing lyrics, variety show, etc. He always prepares and learns every background information before he does something. He's also responsible, always works hard, takes care of other people first and full of consideration. — 디🌻 (@ DforQ) May 30, 2020

He composes as well! And released a song called "I Belong" (embedded below) as well as this very soft mixtape last year.

    Some Jacob fun facts!
    • His favorite basketball team is the Toronto Raptors
    • He would shave off his eyebrows if it would let Kevin meet Beyonce??
    • Loves dogs and his family has two
    • Has improved a lot in his dancing over the years! One of his goals is to become part of the dance line (he's doing quite well)
    • MCs Simply Kpop with Kevin
    • Used to play volleyball for six years and basketball for four
    • Apparently very good at improvising dance?? I can't tell if this is serious or just a long running gag for comedic effect or not though (both???)

    Younghoon

    Three icons of Younghoon.
    • Kim Younghoon ♌☀️ ♎🌙
    • Born August 8, 1997
    • Vocalist, Visual
    • Representative Number: 67 (his parents were born in '67)

A very soft bread! Scouted while in a convenience store buying bread, a lot of Younghoon's nicknames stem back to this. Some examples are bbangjanim (breadprince), and bbanghoon (bread+younghoon). He's said before that he gives off a cold first impression, and is trying to work on that by smiling more.

He has a lovely voice, and has appeared on masked singer before:

In addition to working as a members of The Boyz, Younghoon is also an actor! He made his acting debut with Love Revolution, which is a romcom of sorts. This year he was in One the Woman a comedy drama.

His A to the Boyz was stunning, he covered "Say Something" by A Great Big World. Go actor Younghoon! Make me cry at 2am!

    According to Eric:
First, he's the tallest. He's so handsome like a manga character. He looks cold, but not his personality. He acts like a dog, Maltese. That's why he smiles a lot. Also, his voice is sweet and nice when he sings. — 디🌻 (@ DforQ) May 30, 2020

He has a very warm heart, even as he is also easily embarrassed. (Also someone who cries at concerts TT). Here's a brief excerpt from his BYOK self-interview (trans. tbzbestboys):
Younghoon: I'm happy. I think it's because it's simple. In a way it may sound enviable, or it may sound bad to those who have a lot of thoughts. I tend to immerse myself in negative emotions for a short time, especially when something bad happens. I once went into the vocal room and screamed really loud and even cried when something was bothering me. Because of that I was able to let out my emotions. So I think I can be happy once more.

There are people who say they are not happy. Each personality is different, so I think it's something I can't touch recklessly. I don't want to tell a person who has a lot going on that they should do [things] just like me. The idea that I can solve other people's difficulties seems rather conceited. But I hope [the people around me] will be happy like me. That's my happiness too.

Younghoon with pink hair, posing in a snow flurry.

He's done some modeling work early in his career, here are some pictures! He's since been in many (...more fashionable) photoshoots. He also was at 2017 Seoul Fashion Week with Juyeon (Juyeon walks first in the video, Younghoon second).

    Some Younghoon fun facts!

    Jaehyun (Hyunjae)

    Three icons of Hyunjae.
    • Hyunjae (Lee Jaehyun) ♍☀️ ♑/♒🌙
    • Born September 13, 1997
    • Lead Vocalist, Lead Dancer, Visual
    • Representative Number: 24 (representing the 24 hours in a day he'll take responsibility)

All-rounder Hyunjae! He's one The Boyz who trained the longest. He's honest and blunt, nearly to a fault, which was one of the topics of his Generation Z interview.

He follows up with this the year afterward in his BYOK interview (trans. dearhyunjaes):
Hyunjae: My honesty is still constant. And I still suffer because of it. But nowadays, I've been wondering about how to express that honesty. When I say my honest opinion and it results in me suffering a loss, it's usually a situation where the other side has a differing opinion from me.

In those times I think I often didn't really consider the other side's position and thoughts. The person must have also thought a lot before saying those things. I'm pondering over methods on how to speak and express my honesty so that neither side feels upset, and so that we can exchange good energy.

In addition to being a very accomplished dancer, Hyunjae's one of The Boyz vocalists! He has a surprisingly sweet voice, and released this cover of IU's "When Love Passes By". (He likes IU quite a bit!)

He was also chosen for this special ending stage during Road to Kingdom, collaborating with the other groups to sing an ending song:

    Eric introduces him like this:
"He is an all-arounder. He is handsome, tall, good at singing, his voice is also good, and has a good sense. And he is like a little brother to me. Because he plays well and takes care of the youngest members, like a friend. If we were the same age and in the same class at school, we'd be best friends. But because we met as THE BOYZ, we are more than best friends, we are family." — 디🌻 ([profile] dforq) May 30, 2020

He can often be found joking around with the other members, and he's not afraid to look a little silly if it'll make someone else feel better. Despite repeated mentions about his mental age being young, he's also reliable and someone many members mention taking their worries to over the years.

    Hyunjae posing on a motorcycle.
From his Elle solo shoot, corresponding interview here.

When asked about the kind of person he doesn't want to become, Hyunjae said
“An adult who doesn’t respect other people. I really dislike the attitude of disrespecting those younger/subordinate to you, no matter what their status or age.”
    - trans. dearhyunjaes, W Korea March Interview

    Some Hyunjae fun facts!
    • Hyunjae is a younger sibling!
    • He uses the gift emoji and introduces himself with gift related ments because the translation of "Hyunjae" into English (present, as in past/present/future) is a homonym with present (as in gift)
    • He loves chicken, to the point that he taught a class about it
    • He used to dislike his smile until his fans gave him the nickname "smile potato" because his smile resembles a kind of fried potato snack
    • He's friends with Pentagon's Kino!
    • He once performed in a stage with a bunch of kpop's other Jaehyuns
    • One of his talents is spinning things on his fingers
    • His hair is naturally curly, but he straightens it a lot
    • Really loves his mom, and even stopped scrunching his nose in The Stealer promotions because she disapproved

    Juyeon

    Three icons of Juyeon.
    • Lee Juyeon ♑☀️ ♌🌙
    • Born January 15, 1998
    • Main Dancer, Vocalist, Visual
    • Representative Number: 11 (the jersey number of his favorite basketball player (Kyrie Irving))

Warm hearted main dancer Juyeon! He's a magnetic performer and has a lot of duality on and off stage. His Generation Z interview talks about this, actually!

As one of The Boyz's main dancers, Juyeon can often be found holding down important parts of the choreography, such as the opening to The Stealer or this pair dance from their cover of "O Sole Mio" during K:LW. He's a dynamic, elegant dancer, with really great expressiveness.

He was chosen as Studio Choom's Artist of the Month, and covered "You Should See Me in a Crown" by Billie Eilish.

He's also released this cover of The Weekend's "In Your Eyes" as part of A to the Boyz:

He's slow to react to things sometimes, and there's a cute phrase that gets said about this—that Juyeon isn't too slow, the world is just too fast.

    Here's how Eric introduces him:
He's also really tall, I envy him. His body is really nice. Also his endurance is really good. For example, because he is the main dancer, when he learns that a specific part or muscle is good for dancing a kind of dance, then he will exercise really hard on it. He doesn't exercise only to look good, but to dance better. He's the main dancer, handsome, and looks sexy & cool on stage, but when he is not on stage, he is like a model student who likes exercising. And he's also really clumsy. — 디🌻 (@ DforQ) May 30, 2020

He's gone viral quite a few times, such as being a part of this Bad Guy cover*, as the guy with red hair in this MAMA stage, or for this Mirotic fancam.

*Four members of tbz are in this video! Juyeon: black bucket hat. Jacob: silver hair. Sunwoo: white shirt. Changmin (Q): brown/purple hair, shirt with a prism on it. This cover is so good, highly recommend watching!

Two images of Juyeon wearing silly glasses, one with the Olympics Rings and one with Christmas Trees.

His BYOK self-interview is really interesting, part of it discusses him trying to show many sides as an idol, and the pressures of that (trans. 115LJY and forjujae). He sees himself as at a place where he needs to go beyond executing a concept, and acknowledges that many parts of his image are constructed by people who aren't himself. He's focusing his efforts on being a three-dimensional person who can deliver his own message.

He hosts a variety show called Walking with Juyeon, where he sits down (or walks around lol) with the other members and acts as the show's producer to interview them! It's a sweet introduction to the individuals he interviews, and also Juyeon himself, hosting something to show off their charms.

    Some Juyeon fun facts!
    • Within The Boyz, Juyeon is often the one who does Japanese ments
    • Juyeon also likes playing basketball
    • He can do the splits
    • Because Eric can't travel home for holidays, Juyeon often takes him home with him. They've gone on several trips together
    • He hosted a radio program with Chanhee for a while
    • He was an MC at The Show for a little bit
    • Despite being born in 1998, his Chinese zodiac is the ox, not the tiger
    • Very bad at talking selfies (there is always so much space on one side of them)
    • He's an older brother

    Kevin

    Three icons of Kevin.
    • Kevin Moon (Korean Name: Moon Hyungseo) ♓☀️ ♑/♒🌙
    • Born February 23, 1998
    • Main Vocalist
    • Representative Number: 16* (a reminder about modesty)
*refers to a translation of 1 Peter 5:6, "Be modest. When the time comes, he will exalt you."

Moonlight Boy Kevin Moon! The artist of The Boyz, Kevin is a self-described "socially awkward social butterfly". Kevin in the other half of the Canada line, and 1/3 of the English speaking line!

Kevin is one of The Boyz other main vocalists, and he also plays the piano! He plays on vlive quite a bit and also plays keyboard for some live stages The Boyz do. Here's a cover he and Jacob did of Lukas Graham's "Lullaby":

He sang for an OST called Half for a show called "Saimdang, Light's Diary". Predebut he was part of Kpop Star 6 (this links to a stage), which was how he got scouted.

Kevin composes as well, and has released a solo song called rubber boots! He's compared his style to Billie Eilish before, and said in an interview with Eric Nam that a lot of his music is "weird".

Speaking of Billie Eilish, Kevin has released this cover of "bury a friend" that showcases a little of his sense:

He's mentioned before in his BYOK interview (trans. eNEWrgy) that his motto is "childlike integrity".

    Here's how Eric introduces him:
He is really a gentleman. He is working hard on producing songs. He always works hard on everything. Also he's quiet, but he's not. When he is excited, he's the loudest! Sometimes he is louder than me. Needless to say, he's also like an angel. He also has a golden hand. He is really good at making and drawing things. — 디🌻 (@ DforQ) May 30, 2020

    Kevin Moon taking a selfie.

Kevin has a lot of skill with art and has taken part in album design and concept work for The Boyz before. During Road to Kingdom he helped with the concepts behind "Checkmate" (inspired by Escher’s "Relativity") and "Quasi una fantasia". He's previously designed some of the albums covers for The Boyz as well as things like these pins The Boyz wore. He posts art he does under the hashtag #MOONSCRIBBLES.

    Some Kevin fun facts!
    • He's mentioned before that he struggles a lot to sleep, and doesn't end up sleeping much
    • Dedicated to """"twerking"""" whenever he gets the chance, whether it be on Kingdom or in Eric's vlive (though he now describes this as his dark past and doesn't do it any more)
    • Used to be a theatre kid
    • He's a big fan of Beyonce
    • He's watched RuPaul's Drag Race and has some opinions
    • He did his makeup for both of his recent Halloween costumes
    • Recently he got a snake named Morty (it's a very cute snake)

    Chanhee (New)

    Three icons of Chanhee.
    • Choi Chanhee (New) ♉☀️ ♈/♉🌙
    • Born April 26, 1998
    • Main Vocalist
    • Representative Number: 98 (he's a '98 liner)

Another one of tbz's main vocalists, Chanhee, stage name New! He cultivates a very elegant, almost delicate image, and ends up frequently teased by the other members. He has a very bright personality!

As one of tbz's main vocals, Chanhee sings a lot! He hasn't released an A to the Boyz, but he's done several really pretty solo stages, such as this cover of "Don't Forget Me" by Baek Ji Young. He had also sung it previously for The Castle fancon.

He's also sung this cover of "You Who I Love" by Shin Youngjae as a gift to end his and Juyeon's time as radio DJs (embedded below). Lyrics here. Another lovely cover he's done is this one of "Lullaby" by Jukjae. He's covered "Nerdy Love" by ph1 with Sunwoo before! His voice is breathy and sweet, and very suited to acoustic settings.

He's talked before about wanting a happiness he can rely on, something that could be kept and taken out of his pocket. In his BYOK interview (trans. palcheokkitty) he follows up on that sentiment.

One of the things I find really admirable about Chanhee is how he's able to set boundaries between himself and being an idol. He does it a lot, such as refusing to listen to requests on Universe (an app with a feature similar to Bubble) and not playing along in fancalls, an attitude most aptly represented by this photo of him blocking a camera with his hand:

Chanhee blocking a fan's camera with his hand.

Chanhee is often seen styled in shorts! He includes them in his personal style as well. He has a distinct fashion sense, and has mentioned before that he's one of the more fashionable members.

Here's what Eric has to say about him (and his style):
He is the main vocal. He's also my roommate. He takes care of me well, but he is a Tsundere. He's the main vocal. And he dresses really well, uniquely. Although his style is not really my style, sorry!😜 — 디🌻 (@ DforQ) May 30, 2020

Chanhee from the Quasi una fantasia performance, posing with pink hair as pink petals fall around him.

One of Chanhee's party tricks is doing mental math. He can add lots of his numbers in his head very quickly!

    Some Chanhee fun facts!
    • Once, when Kevin was falling off his chair, Chanhee pushed him instead of helping lol
    • Avoids exercise at all costs. Hyunjae once said their physical trainer is always looking for him, and Chanhee himself said he's never hit a tennis ball once
    • Likes perfumes and scents a lot!
    • He cooks in the dorms sometimes, and cuts fruit for the other members
    • Was one of the only member of tbz to have a part time job before Flower Snack (worked at a meat shop and a seafood shop)
    • Can eat a whole pizza in twenty minutes
    • Got called a small bean and Sunwoo agreed with it

    Changmin (Q)

    Three icons of Changmin.
    • Ji Changmin (Q) ♏☀️ ♉/♊🌙
    • Born November 5, 1998
    • Main Dancer, Vocalist
    • Representative Number: 02 (atomic number for oxygen)

The Boyz other main dancer, stage name Q! He was the one with the longest training period, having been at LOEN since high school. He has a fun pun he uses to begin dancing. Instead of "music, cue", "music, Q"!

He's a stunning dancer, and one of my favorite boyz to watch! His dancing was one of the things that got me into The Boyz in the first place. He always looks like he's having fun on stage (though he's mentioned in the past this hasn't always been the case, more on that later). Here's his solo dance to Conan Gray's "Maniac":

Here's another example of him dancing on his own (below). Also notable is the time on Weekly Idol where he was tasked with learning and repeating dances after seeing them just once.

Changmin is one of The Boyz that trained the longest, and helped teach The Boyz dance when they were still trainees.

Something he's mentioned in his gen z and BYOK interview (trans. changgyu02 (창큐)) before is that he's struggled with honesty, both to himself and to other people. He's also discussed his relationship to performing, and how he looks like he's always having fun on stage:
I saw a comment saying that I look cheerful and like I'm always having a lot of fun on stage.

    Changmin
: Of course there are times like that. There are a lot of fun times. But if I said that it's fun all the time then that would be a lie. There were a few times where I would get annoyed by my lacking self and I'd get angry to do even better. Fairly speaking, it was a stage that I couldn't really enjoy but seeing the comments and responses saying that it looked fun and joyful, I was worried that people would get disappointed if they knew how I really felt inside my heart. I do my best on stage, I really do my best but I can't always enjoy it.

Compared to one year ago and now, what has changed for you?

    Changmin
: A year ago I hated talking about dancing. Despite the fact that my job is being a dancer, talking or thinking about dancing would come under stress. But now I think that I can do a little bit better here, and I have the desire to do even better. I want to have fun dancing.

A collage of images of Changmin.

    Here's how Eric introduces him:
He looks like the youngest, more than me. That's why I envy him. He's really slender, but he's the main dancer. He looks like a squirrel. He's really cute in his daily life, in the dorm and the way he talks is so cute. How you see him on screen, how THE B think about him, all of it is just like the 'real' Changmin, no difference. But, he's also really scary! Beside his bed, he has the horror movie doll and scary posters and he said "It's so cute!" in the middle of night… Sometimes I can't understand him and get surprised. — 디🌻 (@ DforQ) May 30, 2020

He likes horror movies a lot and even has a doll of chucky (that was a fan gift) that he's brought to vlive. He also has a doll of annabelle. He's remarkably unphased by most horror things, such as when he and Juyeon went through a haunted house and Changmin came out laughing.

    Some Changmin fun facts!
    • He has an ear splitting scream, not unlike that of a dolphin
    • Notable for having gone on a rampage within the dorm where he bit many people including Juyeon. The Boyz have mentioned it as a harrowing night
    • His family has a dog named Gana
    • Once was in a photoshoot with Hoshi from Seventeen and Shownu from Monsta X
    • Might possibly be a flat earther (is this a bit, Changmin??)
    • He's ambidextrous
    • He's a younger sibling (has two older sisters)
    • Is a gg fan! Here's my favorite tiktok of him and Juyeon doing the "Naughty" challenge (the choreo is mirrored and he and Juyeon both learned it in the same direction, so the day they filmed it Changmin had to quickly learn it backwards)

    Haknyeon (Juhaknyeon)

    Three icons of Haknyeon.
    • Ju Haknyeon (Juhaknyeon) ♓☀️ ♏/♐🌙
    • Born March 9, 1999
    • Lead Dancer, Vocalist, Rapper
    • Representative Number: 09 (his birthday)

Jeju Prince Haknyeon! Great at variety shows, and often referred to as the group's moodmaker, Haknyeon plays a variety of roles within The Boyz. His stage name is technically Juhaknyeon, but I don't see it used that often.

He hasn't had many opportunities to showcase his individual skills recently, but he's had some really fun stages, such as this one with Younghoon and Sangyeon and this cover of "Jjiniya" by Park Youngtak:

He's also a very accomplished dancer! He gets categorized in a variety of ways in news articles and similar releases. He holds down his parts of choreography really well (see: The Boyz cover of "Mirotic"). To get a better feel for his voice in title tracks, there's this compilation. He's self-taught himself b-boying, and has showcased it several times.

From left to right: Haknyeon, Hyunjae, Q, Juyeon.

He's mentioned it a couple of times, again in his BYOK interview (trans. zhuhaknyeon), that his strength is his confidence.
Haknyeon: I think confidence is my biggest strength. I am not insecure about my future, and I am positive and I like the way I am taking things into my own hands. Sometimes I fulfill things from my bucket list one by one, and I will give myself presents again as a way to give love to myself.

And I have a lot of curiosity. It is also a strength that I have a lot of things I want to do.

Since I was young, there weren't a lot of things that you can do in the mountain village of Jeju Island. I read a lot of books, and I will read the books that I've read again. No matter what the question is, I am always curious about their fundamentals, and think about why they are essential. Naturally, my curiosity increased, and just as I thought, this is my strength.

    An image of Haknyeon.

Haknyeon is really good at variety shows and games! Some excellent moments are when he took this entire box of snacks or figured out the best way to pass a hula hoop across eleven people.

    Here's how Eric introduces him:
He's a Jeju Island boy. The king of freshness! When he is serious, he is really serious. But when he is joking, he is more than me and Hyunjae combined, so mischievous. He's really bright but serious when he does. He also tries a lot and works hard on everything. He loves adventures and so curious. He is like a Beagle. He is really curious and that's why he wanna do so many things. — 디🌻 (@ DforQ) May 30, 2020

    Some Haknyeon fun facts!
    • Haknyeon reads a lot! He recently finished reading 50+ volumes of a series called Legendary Moonlight Sculptor
    • He's ridiculously fit, see: this video of him doing a core exercise
    • He's friends with Seventeen's Seungkwan!
    • Haknyeon does radio broadcasts on Vlive called “Tangerine radio”
    • Predebut he was part of Season 2 of Produce 101 and finished 19th
    • His family owns a pig farm
    • Haknyeon is half Chinese (Hong Kong) and speaks Mandarin and Cantonese on occasion (more examples here and here (I cannot vouch for his fluency))
    • He's very proficient at horse riding and won a gold medal at ISAC
    • Haknyeon has his driver's license
    • Haknyeon is a big eater (go check out him and Hyunjae on Battle Trip)

    Sunwoo

    Three icons of Sunwoo.
    • Kim Sunwoo ♈☀️ ♌🌙
    • Born April 12, 2000
    • Main Rapper, Lead Dancer, Sub Vocalist
    • Representative Number: 19* (ambitions)
*Sunwoo was around 19 when they came up with numbers, and the first syllable of 19 (십구) sounds similar to "I want" (싶)

Main rapper Sunwoo! He's bold and dynamic and also hard carrying the group's rap, good for him.

For his A to the Boyz, Sunwoo covered Rich Brian's "100 Degrees", a summery vibe, complete with blow up palm trees and sticker on his face:

He's a very accomplished dancer, and he and Changmin did a vlive (210628) with dance covers that was a particularly good example of this (see also: tbz "Bady Guy" cover, Sunwoo is wearing a white shirt).

As The Boyz's main rapper he often writes the lyrics to his own raps and helps with songs they release. He's also composed and released his own music, such as "Berry", a cute single:

Sunwoo's BYOK interview is actually my favorite among all eleven of them. He talks about self motivation, and about his self image as an idol (trans. K1MSUNWOO and TBZ612). It's really thoughtful and an interesting read.

Here, here (partial), and here (reupload) are a few other translations, in case the first one gets taken down.

I can't quote the entire interview here (thought I'd like to!), so here are a few snippets from it:
Sunwoo: Above all, I believe that the biggest factor that shaped me into who I am, is love. As I have mentioned several times already, I tend to acquire a stronger synergy whenever I pull myself down. The foundation of this project is strongly supported by self-love, so I can affirm that I never blame myself during the process. The way of driving myself to the end based on conviction, confidence, and love was what made me turn into who I am and I think that is what makes me unique.

Sunwoo: I don't want for people to love me solely premised off of the fact that I show all the sides that there is to myself. I know very well that every individual has their rough qualities, so to say "I'll do this my own way so love me regardless" is greedy and I also think it's selfish to do things the easy way.

To add on, I don't think in the slightest that I know every little detail about myself. Let's say that I see myself in a certain way and the fans perceive me in another, does that mean that the Sunwoo that the fans have perceived me as, is a wrong version of me? It doesn't. That version is also a part of me and is the version of myself that is perceived.

Sunwoo: Amongst everything, I find the love that has been formed within our [him and his fans] relationship very special. … This emotion differs from the kind of love that is formed between family, friends, and lovers.

Although they may seem similar, they have their differences. Despite this love being preconceived, I think it is purer than any other kind of love. … [That love] is solely a matter of one's will. Nobody can force you to do so. It is from their decision and judgement alone, therefore, it is exclusively their emotions. I think about this point a lot.

"In this relationship with me as an idol, will I be able to respond with that same love that fans carry in their hearts?" As I'm at an age where love is important, I couldn't help but think of this. … Realistically I can't go find each person and convey my feelings to them. But, it's important that they don't solely think of themselves as only a group. … I don't know where you live or who you are, but I receive your innermost feelings with sincerity and do my unfeigned best to relay my gratefulness and love back to you.

    Sunwoo with pink hair.

Sunwoo is also a bit of a scardy cat. He's easily startled and The Boyz have taken advantage of this many times. He also played soccer for 4+ years before training as an idol, and took it very seriously (he's still really good with a soccer ball!).

Sunwoo and Eric are same age friends, and here's how Eric introduces him:
Sunwoo is also an all-rounder. He's the same age as me but his birthday is before me. He's the main rapper in our group and has a good sense. He is really funny! When I'm with him, I can laugh minimum 5 times in a day. How should I appeal him to you... His existence itself is an appeal! When he wants to do something or show something, until he accomplishes it, he gets obsessed(?) on it and will always make it come true! He works hard and his targets are so clear. — 디🌻 (@ DforQ) May 30, 2020

    Some Sunwoo fun facts!
    • Predebut he was part of "High School Rapper", leading to the oft quoted and referenced "The sun rises when I start rapping!"
    • Sunwoo is an older brother
    • As of "The 100", Sunwoo was drinking many herbal juices for his health, to the point that made up much of the luggage he packed for the trip. Fans have asked him for juice recommendations in the past
    • He's a fan of shoujo anime and has watched quite a few
    • He's uploaded many cute baby photos of himself to twitter
    • During the Maverick shoot he saw a frog and kept thinking about it while filming
    • Once said if someone forgot everything else about him he'd want to be remembered by his thighs??

    Eric

    Three icons of Eric.
    • Eric (Sohn Youngjae) ♑☀️ ♏🌙
    • Born December 22, 2000
    • Lead Dancer, Lead Rapper, Vocalist
    • Representative Number: 22 (his birthday, as well as 22 looking like a heart when you flip one of the 2s around)

Energy boy Eric! He's the youngest of the group, and very extroverted (and LOUD), making friends really easily. (He knows so many people. See this moment from an interview with Eric Nam where he talks about befriending his friend's dad.)

He was born in Korea but spent part of his time growing up in LA. Eric is 1/3 of the English speaking line with Kevin and Jacob.

While Sunwoo is the group's main rapper, Eric also raps. He's contributed lyrics to quite a few songs tbz have released, including three tracks off their album Breaking Dawn and two off of Reveal. Here is Sunwoo and Eric working on lyrics for their cover of Exo's "Monster" on Kingdom.

He's done some composing as well, and released this cute song called SOMEWHERE (섬에) on soundcloud this year.

Like all of tbz he's put a lot of effort into dancing. He's a fan of GOT7 and he's said previously that his role model is Taemin! He's recommended Advice on The Boyz twitter before, as well as Don't Call Me, and covered Criminal on vlive:

His philosophy is to be the main character in his own life, something he's talked about recently in his BYOK interview (trans. tbzwangdeuls).
Eric: The past, Sohn Youngjae didn't have much confidence. Although I pretended to have one, but honestly, looking back, I don't think I had any. I used to have these thoughts before. I have this thought that if you look at it closely, in The Boyz, I'm not the member with outstanding visuals nor am able to showcase a striking talent in dance and rap. How will I have at least one position that will stand out? I tried to hang on to these worries.

Rather than dealing with frustration or blaming myself, I changed my mindset by focusing on what I can do now. The form of goals I have saved for a while also changed little by little over time. There's no specific reason for it, I just think it changed naturally. … I felt like neither "Being better than other people" not "Be among the best people" should be my goal.

Although I can't be the main character in other people's lives, I'm going to be the "main character" of my life. This attitude of making my own way confidently and actively without worrying about what other people think of me was the biggest and proudest change that has happened to me in a year.

I haven't talked about The Boyz representative colors (something they have in addition to the numbers) much in this primer because overall they're not used a lot and didn't have much reasoning behind them, but Eric's is an exception. His color is pink because "Pink is a manly color". It was very cute, he talks about only a few people being confident wearing it (and him being one of them!).

Eric from The Boyz, dressed in a pink fur coat.

Eric is one of the neater members of tbz, a point of contention between him and Sunwoo, who cleans up much more rarely. He tidies up a lot around the dorm, and even packs his suitcases neatly.

He cries quite a bit (this isn't a link to him crying, but instead talking about what makes him cry). He cried while watching "The Notebook", during Road to Kingdom, during fancalls, you get the picture. He debuted really young, and he's still exploring the directions he wants to go and where he wants to invest his energy. Excited for wherever that takes him!

    Some Eric fun facts!
    • He's got into a tbz fansign before, as a fan (after buying albums for his classmates)
    • Can solve three rubix cubes in three minutes??
    • Likes ramyeon a lot
    • Is friends with GOT7's Mark and Stray Kids' Felix
    • Also a Seventeen fan
    • His catch phrase he ends a lot of ments with is "always remember Eric loves you"
    • He attended SOPA, and when tbz did a school uniform stage for Maverick, stuck out like a bright yellow bee among a sea of dark uniforms
    • His The Boyz bias is Juyeon and he's not afraid to make it known!!
    • Went viral for this clip of him running away from a camera at ISAC
    • Once attended a class where Changmin and Hyunjae were teaching fans how to dance, pretending to be a fan

    Subunits, Dynamics, Etc

    (‡Top ▲)

The Boyz don't have specific subunits like groups such as Stray Kids or Seventeen, but they do have some pretty commonly paired up members, whether that be for photoshoots or for stages. Here's a brief (extremely noncomprehensive) overview:

    Bermuda Line(z)

The Boyz have named what seems like every trio within the group nicknamed some sort of "-muda". The combinations get funnier as you go on, and we're already starting from a ridiculous place.

First and most well known is Bermuda Line, aka Younghoon, Hyunjae, and Juyeon, the visual line. They're the bermudas because you'll """get lost in their visuals like the bermuda triangle~""" I believe they've done at least one photoshoot together!
Younghoon, Juyeon, and Hyunjae in the arena homme photoshoot.
From left to right: Juyeon, Hyunjae, Younghoon.

Next up we've got Kyeopmuda aka cute Bermuda Line. It's made up of Chanhee, Q, and Sunwoo. Main vocal, main dancer, and main rapper, but cute.
Chanhee, Changmin, and Sunwoo, posing in front of a sign that says The Boyz.
From left to right: Chanhee, Changmin, Sunwoo.

Then you've got Dancemuda for a trio of dancers: Hyunjae, Changmin, and Juyeon. They all stand out in a group of very good dancers.
Jueyon, Hyunjae, and Changmin, posing in a photoshoot.
From left to right: Juyeon, Hyunjae, and Changmin.

Lastly (for now…) Bamuda Line consists of Sangyeon, Juyeon, Eric. The "ba" refers to the fact that they all have good bodies (바디 - badi) and are fools (바보 - babo).
Eric, Juyeon, and Sangyeon taking a selfie together.
From left to right: Eric, Juyeon, Sangyeon.

    Duoz, Trioz, and Units

Here are a few boyz that are often seen together!

    • 97z: The 97 year line consists of Hyunjae, Jacob, and Younghoon!

    • 98z: The 98 year line is made up of Changmin (Q), Chanhee (New), Juyeon, and Kevin!

    • JuMil: The company-approved pair, they get sent out on a lot of solo photoshoots, and they seem to get along really well. They're really sweet!

    • MilCob: Hyunjae is very attached to Jacob and mentions him whenever he gets the chance, even during his interviews with Juyeon

    • BbangNyuKyu: A trio that sticks together a lot! Younghoon, Changmin, and Chanhee are all very fond of each other. Younghoon has said Changmin is his favorite multiple times, and flirts with them both. Changmin and Chanhee are close friends have a special phrase (kyu + nyu + uyu (uyu means milk))*

    • MoonBae: Both from Canada, these two stick together a lot and end up posting things like this, ok Kevin?? They do performances together, ever since predubt

    • English Line: English speaking line is Eric, Kevin, and Jacob!

    • SunHak: Sunwoo and Haknyeon are close in age and have a phrase "SunHak Cross" that they've used for themselves when they're paired together for games

    • ENFJ bros: Eric and Hyunjae share the same MBTI and often mention that they're close!

    • Vocal Line: Whenever they do primarily vocal covers, the members that often participate are some combination of Kevin, Jacob, Chanhee, Sangyeon, and Hyunjae

*For something fun, check out Changmin and Chanhee reading a poem about soy sauce marinated crab and getting emotional about it (eng subs on vlive, go to ~21:15).

    Other Resources

    (‡Top ▲)

This is a catch all section for things I couldn't figure out how to put in other places! Also for resources etc.

    Vlives, Translation Accounts

Some translation accounts that are active are [twitter.com profile] zhuhaknyeon, [twitter.com profile] sunwooflex, [twitter.com profile] theboyzfolder, [twitter.com profile] palcheokkitty, [twitter.com profile] DforQ, and [twitter.com profile] tbzwangdeuls.

Theboyzfolder on twitter maintains this spreadsheet of tbz lives. (As of 211222 it is only updated to August 2021). It includes "recommended vlives". (I don't watch many vlives just on their own, so I can't say how good these recommendations are.)

Here is a link to their vlive channel.

    Interviews

Here is a link to a (non comprehensive) spreadsheet of interviews they've done. All of them are either in English or link to a translation. (As of 211220 the spreadsheet is still under construction+being added to.)

    Guide to Emojiz

Here's a guide to the emojis used to represent tbz by translation accounts. These have changed a little over the years, so for some older accounts you just have to give it your best guess.

    Favorite Moments

Heavily biased section in which I tell you about some boyz moments! I reached out to twitter for some input here~ Thank you again to blindmouse and kpopliar!

    Additional Reality/Variety Shows

This is still non comprehensive! A continuation of the ‡Reality/Variety section, with additional interviews.

They did their MBTI types for anyone who's interested in that. And then again here with The Show.

    Misc

I don't know where else to put this, but here is this teaser they released for The Stealer:

The behind the scenes for how Younghoon got the lipstick on his face are very fun.

This performance of "Breaking Dawn" is unlisted on youtube for some reason, but deserves a watch!

Netflix Korea Appearance: Juyeon, Hyunjae, and Changmin guest on an interview/variety show about the shows they've watched on Netflix
