latespringBrief writing reflection for 2020!
This journal has been pretty much entirely writing related content, and while I think I'll be expanding that soon, here's another in a long string of those posts.
I started this year with the goal of posting one thing a month which, lmao. I'm on track to have written twelve things in total this year, which will be good enough. On the other hand, I think I might fail my word count goal because I've written like, 5k for October and even less than that for November so far. Given that my goal is double that for each month, I'm not sure if December will have enough time for me there.
I've been in a weird writing rut lately, where my brain feels like room temperature tofu trying to string a sentence together which is very >__> because I have a fest due in December. Hopefully this particular thing is school, my finals should be over after November.
In terms of fandoms, I've noticed myself leaning away from Kpop recently. Not entirely, but that first new fandom sparkle is wearing off a little and I am not immune to the anime renaissance of 2020 (notable mentions including haikyuu and reread of a 700k atla fic, as well as bungou stray dogs and a couple of other anime). I've picked up Hades recently, and while I'm waiting until I finish the game, I'll definitely be keeping my eyes peeled for fic there. Not sure I'll write anything for Hades, but the dynamics are very good. (Thanatos let me romanze you already !!)
I'm trying not to talk about any fic plans because I have noticed a pattern where I mention something in a dreamwidth post and then it never makes it anywhere. Currently though, I'm thinking of a longfic, my fest fic, and a few other ideas. Also thinking about repurposing some kpop fic ideas for haikyuu, but we'll see when we get there. (Also need to,,, finish haikyuu.)
Currently working towards a looser prose style. I don't like the tendency in my own writing to overstate the obvious, and I'm also trying to become literate again so I can read some examples. Reading poetry is lovely but does not tell me much about what I'm wondering about right now. We'll see where that goes.
